What are good resources for System Design if you only have 2 YOE? How much System Design knowledge is expected of you in interviews at that level? Particularly, I have an onsite with Amazon and no clue what the format will be. I heard of: - Donne Martin's System Design Primer - Grokking the System Design Interview - Designing Data Intensive Algorithms I've seen a lot of Blinders in earlier posts said they won't hire someone if they just read the book, but it's hard to learn from experience when you only have 2 years and seniors/tech leads usually control our design process. So not sure how much design knowledge would be expected of me?
The best course is to work with your senior. That’s how you learn. There’s no shortcut.
I agree with that. And I actually have been proactive in joining more architecture meetings and talking to my senior about design choices. He's incredibly intelligent
Experience is the only way for this. If you get good seniors, stick with them. Talk to them. Make them happy with your work. They will find you reliable and will assign more work. Leetcode will only get you through the door and only works for yoe 5 or less. Afterwards it’s all your design skills. Of course coding but that becomes less contributing factor for growth. That’s why it’s also important not to jump ship every two years. That also works for first few years. Then hiring committee will think this guy can do lc hard real good but can’t design a simple thing. What good is he for that role.

I doubt Amazon expects much out of system design at 2, YOE. Get your LC and LP's and you should be good.
Even though I'm fine with SDE1, if I had a shot at SDE2 would I need some heavy design knowledge? Or do I have too few YOE? Either way, thank you, I might focus more of my time on LPs and LC
