Probably way too broad of a question but I was generally curious how people were doing in TC and how their work life balance is in the Boston area. If possible, could you list your title/rank and company as well?
Quitting liberty for some other job in the area. New TC: 160k with 3 yoe. I’m willing to sacrifice some wlb for more TC. Liberty is known to pay way less than tech companies.
Absolutely true, I’m really glad you got out of it
HW at Intel MA, 18 YOE, TC 230K. As for WLB, not very good right now but I have just relocated and started this job. So too early to tell.
TC 200K +stocks . Pretty awesome WLB. Commute is great on the T. On average I spend about 6-7 hours in office. If needs to get more work done, work from home. 8 YOE
Engineering Director, 20 yoe, TC: $450k, in office 8 he's/day. Rarely (as in once or twice a year) attend to business matters in nights, weekends, or vacations.
Principal scientist, 10 yoe, TC: 500k, in office 5-7 hours/day
Google Cambridge SWE L4 0 YOE TC 183 Just starting so can’t comment on WLB yet
You started at L4 with 0 yoe? Were you a masters student? How was the interview?
PhD Interview was pretty easy. Might have just gotten lucky.
Gonna revive this thread, not many TC posts for Bos. SWE 3, 2 yoe, TC: 190k, great wlb.
SWE, 200k, great wlb, 6 YoE
How many hours do you generally do and what’s been the worst case so far in terms of hours you put in a week?
I’m at the office for 8 hours a day. Sometimes more if I’m on a roll and want to finish something up - sometimes less if I’m not getting anything done. There’s been no worst week.
