How does TC change on promotion at the same company ? Is there a fixed formula companies use or is it negotiable or what exactly is the process ? How are new numbers fixed ? Lets say someone is at Facebook ( E3 ) and after 2 years gets promoted to E4. How will base, RSU, bonus, refresher change. Assume current TC is 120k/45k/10%. Especially looking for answers from Fb, Google and Apple. What happens in most cases and what happens in rockstar cases ?
Very formulaic @ fb. Your performance every half adds a certain multiplier though.
So on change of level you are put on lowest band of new level or performance plays a big role ? Do you get additional refresher on promotion ?
Are you saying promo doesn’t affect numbers, and all numbers are computed based the perf formula?
Unsure about the band placement, but I doubt it’s bottom. Probably middle. Performance probably plays role. But the band is not that wide so don’t worry about it. You do get a refresher annually. Promos increase refresher size. Rockstars may get a huge one on top called DE(discretionary equity).

Typically getting promoted puts u at the bottom of ur new comp band.
Makes it a good time to get a new job with comp higher up in the equivalent band at another company.
^This. Promotions usually put you on the lower end of the next level (happened to me). However you can leverage promotions for a better position at a new company.
