TC chasers, what is your ultimate goal after 10-20 years? Its hard to be director and also hard to work at 50 hours / wk pace after getting into 40s+

Financial Independence Retire Early, but how many actually do it and don't waste their TC on expensive houses, cars, luxury items, divorces, etc.?
If the boomers are any indication, a majority increase their spending with a higher income. Aka, lifestyle inflation.
