TC levels in DC?
I'm starting to wonder if I'm hitting my max here in the DC/MD/NoVA area. I haven't really found any jobs or companies that will offer me much more than what I'm getting now. Any insight from others in the area? TC: 145k YoE: 5 FWIW I also have some equity, but until it's worth something I'm not counting it towards my TC.
155k 4 yoe. Gonna try to hit 185k in a couple years and 200k asap. but I'm not a SDE and more niche

Left Northrop to get that, just don't feel like signing up again. Northrop is shitty definitely no RSUs. Let me know if you find a place besides Amazon that grants RSUs in the area.
It’s sad that the once-giants like AOL in the tech industry have disappeared in the area where you could have earned more.
We'll see if Amazon hq2 can boost stuff for us, provided they come to the area. Median home price in arlington is close to 700k so somebody is making money. It's probably just reasonably well off dual income households with a TC around 300k though.
You’re nowhere near your max. Get a security clearance. Double your TC.

Not at Northrop. Left, shopped SC around. 220k offer in (2005). Turned it down. Reston commute didn’t sit well with me.
Appian might be able to get you higher
c1, appian, yext, apt, upside travels, social tables, etc etc all pay well
Yeah it sounds like high end of spectrum for senior level programmer. You gotta move up the ladder if you want more.

What would be the next step to maximize TC? Either move up to lead/principal, or find some SV remote position? Love the area, but DC is pretty small tech market :/
