TN Visa / degree not com sci

I'm a Canadian citizen from canada. Just got hired by an american company, I will be going to work in SF and will be on TN Visa. My question is if my University degree ( I have undergrad degree) is not in computer science or engineering but I'm going to be hired as a software engineer will there be any issues with the TN Visa?

You could have problems even with a CS degree, so it all just depends on how the border officer is feeling that day

Software developer is not a TN approved occupation. You have to convince them that you are doing Software Engineering... The lawyers should coach on what to say/not say.

Make sure your company lawyer coaches you what to say at the border.

They can coach me as to what to say however, I wonder if they care about the designation of the degree also?

Ask the company lawyer.

Yes they do care. Depending on your degree it might be good to go for computer systems analyst job family

If we go with Computer Systems Analyst can the job title still be Software Engineer?

Yes the degree matters for TN. The current crackdown on H1B which they call it “speciality occupation” has been enforced for TN since NAFTA was born. You can’t have a mechanical engineering degree and then try to get a TN for a software engineer position. In rare cases, if you bring your transcripts and prove you’ve had lots of CS courses in it, then the officer may issue the TN.
