I am expecting an offer for Software position from Tableau soon. I read on some posts that annual bonus is 10%. Is this bonus awarded based on individual performance or company performance or both? Also, typically what amount of stock refreshers are offered? YOE - 3.5yrs Current TC - 165K

Company performance only. Stock refreshes are much lower than the initial grant. Meets expectations is generally around 40-50k in RSUs from what I’ve seen at senior band for engineering and start vesting immediately. Exceeds is not a huge jump from there, I don’t think it’s the type of distribution like at some places, eg Microsoft, where the top bands get huge grants, it seems a bit more evenly distributed for better or worse, but I don’t know for sure since I’ve never gotten greatly exceeds.

They’ve awarded the 10% bonus ever year since they started 7 or 8 years ago. If they stop meeting their growth goals that will stop. don’t expect it, truly consider it bonus, not expected. I’ll reiterate that RSU grants don’t match initial. Every complains about the “4 year cliff” as you will earn less in year 5 than 4. But years 1 through 4 are very high comp and years 5 onward are average, good enough considering all the other positives about the company.
