Office Life

Taking full credit for partially done work.

So I was walking by my managers office to meet a different manager and overheard this conversation. I saw my colleague with my manager and senior manager talking and it so happened that my senior manager mentioned a document that was done by my colleague and myself. My colleague claimed that it was her that had written the entire document and she said that I did not contribute at all. Should I talk to my manager about this or talk to her? Is it worth it because I am looking outside for jobs anyway.

If you did really contribute, go tell your manager and show the proof that you contributed ( edit history etc.).
It seems that woman is a talker, idiots like these fill the industry these days

Lol.. don't show edit history and stuff. That's childish crap.

Go ask your manager for feedback on that doc that you wrote in collaboration with your peer and that will indirectly tell them that you have an Ahole team mate. Simple!

Well, no one believes just words these days. And when you get into sensitive things like these, people would want accuracy and credibility. I would say go ahead and show the edit history casually.

Have the edit history ready in case the boss asks for it, but don’t necessarily lead with that.

This. If the manager asks for edit history, s/he does not trust you and it's time to leave.

When accusing someone of being a liar it's not about trust, it's about proof.

Pork chops, the manager could be asking for the evidence he will need to back up the escalation.

If you are looking anyways, then whats the harm in talking? At least they will know the truth.

Without actually saying that hey i did that - you are wrong.
Send an email to your manager - asking how did he liked your contribution on the paper(whatever you worked) and what are his thoughts.

Your manager should ask - what was that you worked or whatever- making it easy for you to lead the conversation the way you wanted.

This document was done 4 months ago. Such email exchange on feedback was already done at that time. But people (including managers) have short memory. I think that she felt comfortable lying because I wasnt there to fact check.

If it’s 4 months back, why would it matter now? Trying to understand the point of bringing this into picture with your manager if his memory is weak 😁

And it is plain wrong to take full credit and deny other person credit for half of the contribution made. Whether 4 months ago or 10 years ago.

My manager has been changing author of Excel and other documents to put his name. He forwards the email for my work to executives by deleting text from my forward. Life sucks..I guess suck it up or quit. I could only suck it up for while, now leaving

You should hide evidence in the office header information.

That’s how they caught the BTK killer also.
