Targeted blind ads?

Yesterday while googling something on my computer I ran across a random search link (don’t remember if it was a google ad) that was odd. Hair regrow this laser caps. Clicked the link because it seemed comical. Today on my blind phone app I get the same ad from a Facebook link. Is blind linking your google and Facebook profiles to your blind profile or is this just a really common ad? Maybe FB/G people have more insight to how blind could do this without being intrusive?

That’s not how ad networks work. You can get identified and retargeted in a wide variety of ways that Blind can’t anonymize you against. In other words, ad networks can out you on Blind :-)

I think you need other words to help clarify this. Are you saying that because blind shows FB ads and because FB can identify me due to my phone, that blind can’t anonymize me?

Blind uses Google for ads, not Facebook, so I’m not sure what you mean by “the same ad from a Facebook link”. You just got cross-device retargeted. Google lets advertisers do this, but it’s fully anonymized (advertisers not allowed to target granularly enough to the point you would be personally identifiable). The publisher (Blind) also would never get any direct info from you as a part of this advertising. https://www.google.com/amp/s/marketingland.com/google-cross-device-remarketing-launches-192819/amp

Clicking the link in blind took me to FB so much figured it was an ad from FB. Blind already has the capability to know who we are. My thoughts here is that G or FB could just crawl blind and associate real people with comments.

The advertiser is just buying ads from Google targeted to Facebook then, unless Blind is using FAN (Facebook Ad Network) somewhere that I missed. Neither FB or Google can “crawl blind” for arbitrary users the way you mention because even if they had an account they were using to do this it would not have any more info than you or I have browsing Blind, and even if they were associating your device id via their ad exchange with your FB or Google account and then crossreferencing that with your Blind usage (unlikely because that would be a fireable offense most places if you were caught looking at that kind of data, but possible) they would still need to be able to read the content on the page to associate you to your comments which they can’t do because 1) it’s an app, and 2) the content is not passed in the bid request.
