Tax Filing

Hi all, I'm on F1 Visa, considered as Non Resident Alien for tax purposes. I have a question about filing taxes. some of my RSU's got vested last year, my employer sold some of them for tax purposes and I kept the rest. I haven't received any tax document from Etrade, I spoke with them regarding this, they said my account is foreign certified account and won't be eligible for receiving 1099B. Is this because I'm considered as a Non resident alien for tax purposes.? If so I saw the "sell to cover " statement and found that I was charged social security and Medicare taxes; How should I claim that money without 1099B?

Your stock should show up on your w2.

tax withholding of vested RSUs show up in your W2. E*TRADE knows nothing about that.

op the nominal value for your RSUs have been taxed as it was sold on vest to cover the tax liability. The question is have u sold any since vest as this will determine whether u have a capital gain or loss, which are taxable and deductible respectively. If no, then u are fine

You should speak to your FIN Dept. USCIS website clearly states F1 students are not required to pay those two taxes
