Which is better among these 3? CK doesn’t have any fee whatsoever & also provides free audit coverage etc. Ideally all of these should calculate same refund for standard deduction with a simple tax return.
Taxact. Don’t support intuit.
why
Check this out https://www.propublica.org/article/filing-taxes-could-be-free-simple-hr-block-intuit-lobbying-against-it
I do HR block. They got guarantee of supporting you in the event of an audit.
CK has all the forms available. All of it is free. Both CK & H&R are giving me exactly the same refund. But I don’t have to pay $90 in filing fee with CK.
Freetaxusa. Stop supporting intuit and H&R Block, they spend millions lobbying every year against making tax filing simple
It's convenient. Auto import. File online. Costs $10-20 only.
But if would be even more convenient if the government just sent you what they think you owe. You could then choose to accept or prepare your version. And you'd save a bunch of time and money.
H&R Block as others don’t allow 1040NR
FreeTaxUSA. Also, it’s s tax “return”, not a “refund”. Though a refund can result from the return, obviously...
Our tax product at Credit Karma is legit good and 100% always free. It’s easy, give it a try.
Yeah, I filed with CK last year & it was a breeze. Great work by the team on your side.
I tried both Credit Karma and TurboTax. TurboTax got me get a bigger refund. I considered spending a few minutes trying to fix the difference in Credit Karma, but finally just decided to pay for TT.
Shouldn’t be the case. Was it a substantial difference?
I calculated on TurboTax & it comes out to be the same. Mine is straight forward not complex. CK is free with audit support & all whereas TT is charging $60 for filing & another $50 for audit support. This is just insane.
But will it help with things like 1098’s? TurboTax is tiered to try and get people with student loans to buy Deluxe.
