Tax filing for dual visa F1 OPT converted to H1B

Hello Folks. Is there anyone here who files/filed their own taxes? I was on F1 OPT until Sep 2017 and on H1B since Oct 2017. I would like to do it on my own but unable to find resources on the web so far. Some articles on the web point out that TurboTax cannot be used in my situation. Really appreciate any help/pointers in this regard.

Just use your college's free tax software and file as Non-Resident Alien.

You are considered nonresident as you have not been on h1b for 6 months in the year

Doing in turbo tax is simple.. it asks questions on your presence/visa status and decides whether you are resident or non resident based on substantial presence test.. I had done it using a software like TurboTax (taxact) when I was in the same situation. Going to tax consultant is not needed and on the contrary they may be not be as accurate as TurboTax, but may confidently bullshit to give you an impression that they are very good

Op cannot use TurboTax since he is nonresident for 2017

You might need to refile your taxes if you did it as resident being a non resident. Getting audited is a pain.
