Tech career + Musician on the side?

Random q but curious - anyone here manage to juggle a career in tech and music (anywhere from bedroom producer to actually playing at concerts)? If so how do you manage your time?

Making music is a huge passion of mine alongside tech and making $, and in an ideal world I'd like to be successful at both, but damn doing both really eats up time!

Do it as a hobby. Once you try to make money off your hobby the fun goes away.

I do, and many do at Spotify. I know touring musicians who are managers here. I’d say a quarter of the folks here are serious musicians.

All of Spotify. The manager I know is an engineering manager, so no fluff there.

I’ve switched to more project based work and become more ok with letting the tech career fund the bottomless pit of necessary gear and letting my performance skills atrophy a bit

I was a dj on weekends while having a full day job and raising a kid. Fully doable if you love music.
