Yoe: 19 Title: Sr. Director Technology TC: 270k what companies dont require leetcode for Engineering Manager/Sr. Engineering Manager roles? below are ones that i know 1. Amazon 2. Wayfair 3. Twitter 4. Netflix 5. Roku
Ok editing the post to add that to the list
Netflix
Is that true? I though they had a take home coding assignment
They do and it’s not in any way related to leetcode.
It seems dumb to require Sr Manager to do graph traversal. How does that correlate to leading multiple product teams?
Yoe:17. Role: Senior Dev Manager. With the intention of applying for EM positions at FANG, I've spent the last 2 months recapping ds and algos, going through EPI and sharpening my C++ skills since I don't code at all anymore for my day job since 2014 and haven't really worked on any coding projects at home for a while because of family commitments. Although I'm feeling fairly competent now I doubt I'll remember much of it a few months from now unless I'm coding every day which I doubt I will be as a manager. So I'm also wondering what the point is. System design interviews I can appreciate. I can review code anytime but not sure I need to be able to solve a DP problem in 30 min and code it perfectly though... But still, I'm just preparing because of the process.
Well at the lowest level, LC filters out for people who really want it bad. So people who put in the time to LC might be more likely to follow through and accept an offer than someone who didn’t? And also I guess people will say they wanna see how you problem solve, communicate, deal with uncertainty and being uncomfortable, how you might interact with juniors though it sounds like sometimes they aren’t prioritizing these things in interview evaluation
Roku
I'm not sure Google is consistent with their L6 EM and L7 EM interviews. For APAC region (Sydney and Tokyo offices) I was told that I wouldn't need to do a phone coding round but would do 1 coding interview onsite. For Canada and US the (different) recruiter said that I wouldn't need to do a coding round onsite. I didn't end up pursuing any because of personal reasons. But just wanted to relate my experience when the recruiters contacted me. FWIW I'm non-FANG with 17 YOE.
