Been at Uber for awhile, but I’m interested in moving to VC. Background is in finance. Do i need to go back to get an MBA to transfer over or can i leverage tech experience to mske the jump?
You likely need to know people or try to network your ass off cold emailing. VC likes ex founders so you might have to go later into growth
I would suggest to go for an MBA in schools like booth, Sloan etc..that’s mostly must unless you are exceptional
I would think Stanford, Harvard, and Wharton would be better than booth or Sloan given Stanford’s bent toward tech and Harvard/Wharton’s appeal in finance. Exceptional is subjective ;)
I mean.. if you can get into those three then of course. I’m pretty sure he was implying a minimum of M7
Check our John Gannon’s VC website for all the resources you might want about this
VC is all about relationships. MBA is great but the real reason why they prioritize those is because of the MBA schools alumni network. Again back to relationships.
Are you wanting to work for a VC fund, or start your own?
you gotta know people
