So you think because someone is from a different country and they come here to work they deserve to be treated inferior to their peers because they are seeking a better life? I suppose you would be those who agree that immigrant workers should get less pay and women holding technical jobs should get less pay, “because that’s the price you pay” for wanting a better life? Don’t forget everyone or their ancestors here were once immigrants to this country. What you said is downright racist and discrimination.
Straw man
The ancestors built this country from scratch whereas these IT immigrants don’t want to build but want to get (their TC). There are millions of people who would dream to work in the US. Work hard. Who look at H1B as on opportunity. And those H1B holders also dreamt about it, but once moved their forget they have to work hard. They now want get their 200-300k TC and work less than 40 hours a week. They could easy switch job having FB in resume but no, they don’t want to move but want to get their 200-300k TC (whereas US average is about 50k or less), but work less.
H1b rules need to be changed to provide more flexibility so it is easier for them to switch jobs and won't be abused by employers
This^. The problem isn’t bringing the worlds best and brightest here, it’s the absurd company sponsorship requirements. It traps the H1b employees at a company, which depresses the wages and worsens working conditions (because they can’t vote with their feet, so companies get away with it). We all lose under this system, since we are all competing against cheaper indentured employees or are trapped in it.
There are hiring freezes too on h1b candidates in many companies now. Take that! Good business for a therapist
Enough with the sour grape already
Facebook>Amazon ?
There are two types of companies that sponsor a lot of h1bs: body shops-"consultancy"- like companies and big tech giants that actually need people. The first category of companies is evil. They don't pay well and resell their employees as cheap contractors (for example to Google). The second - not really. Have you tried to hire engineers? It takes months to find good engineers. My former company (startup) started doing h1b transfers because it gave access to more talent. Most companies don't want to take tech jobs from Americans, and spend money on lawyers to do visa transfers and visa sponsorships. But some of them want cheap disposable contractors. And that's the problem that should be fixed. If minimum wage got increased for h1b visa holders, it would have solved the problem with body shops. But it seems like they lobby their interests pretty well (Tata consultancy, cognizant etc)

Biden’s new tax proposal is wild
You don’t know what you’re talking about. The people working at Facebook on h1b are not the same as the ones flooding the queue. It’s also nearly impossible to move to other companies when you’re working 80hrs a week and companies know this.
Sorry but that’s the price you pay to live in the best country in the world
