I like the product, culture and team. The chance of being fired may not be great but I’m on H1B with no backup plan. It really sucks to say no to Netflix and I don’t know when I’ll have another chance to work there. I’m tempting to turn it down for mental peace. Life is so hard! TC: ~430k
Do it!!
How much higher is the offer from Netflix though (unless you don't care about money)?
They've sort of screwed themselves with their reported fire hungry attitude. If you have strong game/fu, and can get past your co-workers, who think you getting fired will help them (strange thinking), then you will be fine.
No IC thinks that because we don’t have a scarcity of bonus or raise for ICs — if you hit a ceiling you can transfer internally to something harder. Management on the other hand.. let’s just say don’t come here if you are in a rush to make Director.
Can confirm the rep, one of my buddies worked at Netflix for about 8 months. Similar TC. He was fired unceremoniously after an HR complaint related to something he said while he was drunk at a company party was heard by the wrong person. His manager said he failed the "keeper test".
How are you earning 430K at MS? L66/67?
Don’t sweat it. I recently started and all the firings I’ve seen are not surprises to the employee. They always try to work with you for 6-12 months. Unless you do something stupid that any company will fire you on the spot.
So you recently started and already saw several firings? That’s unusual from any other company. Can you detail a bit more your experience with regards to this firing and performance?
He might get fired before he gets a chance to answer.
YoE?
Take it, if you’re fired you can go to Canada and get to keep the money you got from Netflix.
Wats the Netflix offer and wats ur yoe .. it all depends on these and what stage of GC are you in
