Tesla is a unique American car manufacturer. Technology is just a main ingredient that sets this company apart from other outdated American car manufacturers that got bailed out by Obama administration. It would be wiser to let them fail and invest into more progressive 21st century company. The US government could use stimulus package to buy all GM and Ford manufacturing facilities for Tesla and retain all work force by retraining them. This would be money well spent.
Tesla (and then Uber/Lyft) helped Apple finally see that "TV" isn't the next big digital content delivery system that will anoint a standard setting winner. Elon Musk was one of the first to realize that when cars drive themselves, the automobile becomes the most extensive digital content delivery system that you absolutely want to control if you are going to emerge as the leader in a near-future chapter of the digital story.
Tech is a mean not an end. It's car business after all.
But the car business is about to change radically once cars can reliably drive themselves. Once you don't have to pay attention to the road, your eyeballs are up for grabs in the new digital platform land-grab.

There stock price can’t hold these extended levels if they can’t deliver. Seems like every quarter they have issues manufacturing.
Analysts have been beating them up on "manufacturing issues" or that "they can't hold these extended levels if they cant deliver" since 2007 too.
