Tesla Layoffs - Spill the beans

Does anyone on here that has been laid off want to share any juicy details?

About how sold model 3s aren’t getting registered to the state to dodge state taxes? People are driving around with temp tags for months.

About the thousands of model 3s sitting in parking lots across the country due to lack of demand when the company guides shareholders a backlog of demand?

About repairs and warranty defects being booked as goodwill? Or booking fleet sales as something with a higher margin? or any other accounting fraud?

About Elon misleading bond investors on model 3 capacity and/or demand?

About Tesla knowing FSD isn’t going to happen and fraudulently taking customer money for a vapor ware feature?

About the go private securities fraud?

As someone who bought model 3, it's not hype. It's the only car that fits my requirements - upscale, cheap fuel, cheap maintenance, long range between fuels. The entry price is too high for a compact sedan ... Morale must be low at Tesla after that layoffs.

Was serviceability not one of your requirements? Tesla has terrible service.

I've had an issue with maps erroring out on navigation. I scheduled an appointment and they sorted it out. I did have to wait 2+ weeks to get an appointment. They gave Lyft credit for the day so I wasn't without a car.

By all accounts from owners I know, their service is great.

Agree myself that Model 3 is a great car. Although, service is a pain right now. Hopefully, they will get it sorted out soon.

Service won’t get sorted out because they have no cash and can’t raise capital bc Musk has made Tesla open to a DOJ inquiry by lying to bond investors. Not to mention he can’t dilute equity anymore bc he’s personally leveraged his own shares, and Tesla has convertible bonds.

There are many things that would be good for Tesla that can’t happen bc Tesla is Musks personal piggy bank. Gulfstreams ain’t cheap, ya know.

You realize he wasn’t talking about having full self-driving in that timeline, right? They decided to ship what he was talking about as part of EAP instead of requiring the FSD option. How does that support your claims?

Besides, Musk is always crazy optimistic and aggressive in his timelines. Those don’t matter. What his team delivers is what matters, and they shipped Nav on AP in beta recently and it’s an impressive step forward. The leaks about their AP3 computer show they’re making significant progress. Will they deliver an update that enables L5 self-driving to the Model 3? Almost certainly not. Will they get to a solid L3? Seems very likely. I think getting to L4 would fulfill the promise of their “FSD” and I think there’s a good chance they get there. They have the people and the tech and the data. Guaranteed? Of course not. This year? Probably a stretch. But to claim it’s a “fraud” is utter bullshit.

When you’re the ceo of a public company, what you say does matter. Thinking to the controls BS.

Full Self Driving means just that. Read the question. You can twist it but it’s clear as day for anyone to see. There’s a reason they don’t take those deposits anymore. Legal liability.

Elon also just claimed Advanced Summon was about to rollout and is approved by regulators. How many years do you think it’ll be until we see it? Do you think we can find the paperwork with any regulatory agency? Time will tell.

“Full Self Driving means just that. Read the question. You can twist it but it’s clear as day for anyone to see.”

You go read it. Someone asked when buyers of the the Full Self Driving package would get something that differentiates it from EAP. That is vastly different from asking when all of the FSD vision will be accomplished.

NDAs remain active after you leave. There might even be additional ones attached to severance packets, it's standard approach everywhere. It would likely be a bad decision for whomever chooses to break them.

Tesla and Elon have shown how hard they come down on those who threaten or hurt the company or him.

Yep, if anyone reads into how they go after whistleblowers it’s truly frightening and vindictive. They even doxxed a seeking alpha writer (not a former employee just a third party) and musk called his employer and tried to get him fired.

I figured people might be more open on an anonymous forum.

If I were wrong, they would have raised more capital after their good q3 results. They’re trying to streamline model 3 production when they have no money to build their behind schedule Chinese gigafactory. Also, they would be expanding their service centers, not contracting them.

But I guess time will tell.

Disclaimer: no posit now but sure as hell will have one by the end of the week.

Tesla will end Q4 with over $1B in Free Cash Flow and over $4B cash. More than enough to pay any debt obligations. They have reiterated guidance for cash flow positivity for all quarters going forward. They most absolutely do not need to raise capital.

Is it true though that registrations are getting delayed? My car was delivered right before the holidays and I still do not have the license plates in mail (I was told when I was placing the order that it was going to be two weeks). I have not called them yet though, so part of blame is on me. Can other owners post their experiences?

This experience is all over the internet. Some people have gone through two or three different temp tags. This doesn’t happen to other car companies. It happens with car dealers that go to jail.

How long has it been for you. If you have concerns you should contact a lawyer or your states attorney general.

Personally, I don't care about this too much yet. The product is really great for the price tag. Even if Tesla is exploiting a loophole/stretching a rule, I would rather deal with this minor annoyance than see Tesla fail as a company.
      Jan 19
    • Microsoft undefined
It’s typical for it to take a few weeks in Washington, regardless of car manufacturer. Lots of people keep their temp plates on as long as they can to avoid paying tolls. Seattle plate issuing was backed up because of a surge of Tesla sales in the fall, but even then I don’t know of anyone who didn’t get theirs within 3-4 weeks before the temp expired.
