Apologizes if this has already been posted. Yesterday I read Tesla’s chief Accounting officer quit. After a month on the job I believe. This is EXTREMELY bad news. I talked to CPA friends, and as part of their liscencing, a CPA is trained to escalate issues, including Accounting irregularities up the chain of a companies management, the action of last resort is to quit. They were only on the job one month. The day the chief accountant quits, Musk “happens” to go on a talk show and smoke pot. I think everyone gets the point I am making. Go read up on the news if you are invested in Tesla and missed the story
This is interesting. Are there similar rules for a CFO?
Super bizarre situation. What is happening there?
Got from my friend in Tesla - He was not cultural fit and saw the writing on the wall
After only a month?!
He may have had other offers as well
Tesla is about to go belly up unless someone buys them soon.
Tesla wud make lots of money. The way to look is - all the issue with company can be fixed ? Is product unique . Does it sell like hot cakes ? I remover how people reacted to iPhone bugs in 2008-2009 time frame and how much stock rallied , this is temp feat . Soon it wud rally to 330 range .
You sound so sophomoric but I just finished a bottle of Pinot so I’ll engage. Dave Morton was a false positive. He is a PoS who was on the job market and had two offers. Google him right now - he already accepted the CFO role at a startup. Those C-level hirings take months to happen. They don’t happen within 2 weeks. Don’t ask me how I know. Did you even listen to the podcast? It’s 2 hours of 2 guys shooting the shit. Pretty informative actually. And he took one pitiful puff lasting 3 seconds.. It was a travesty honestly, if you’ve ever smoked pot. What. Is. The. Big. Fucking. Deal. Rant over. Your CPA friends are probably sophomores too.
I'm assuming that Tesla employees compensations have a large RSU component to them. How do you feel about Musk making careless statements that have a direct impact on the value of your RSUs? He makes crazy accusations about a rescue diver being a pedo, taking Tesla private and takes a hit from a joint on video and the stock starts taking a dive. Does this bother you and your co-workers at all? Or do you guys appreciate Musk's candor and refusal to play the "wallstreet game"? Honestly, the optics are pretty bad..but maybe Musk doesn't give a fuck and neither do the Tesla employees (Which is actually pretty admirable, that means you have a workforce that truly believes in the mission and they aren't there just for a big payday)
I got over the RSU fluctuations after a month. It’s musk’s company, nothing is traditional about it. Of course some hate the wild swings. They’re welcome to look for jobs elsewhere - it’s Silicon Valley and it shouldn’t be so hard. What’s happening inside Tesla and outside public perception haven’t been more at odds. The stocks become a casualty of that difference in the short term.. It will be okay in the long term.
The only thing I thought about the podcast was that he looked wiped out when it started. Red eyes, pale and drained. Got better over time but was still a bit odd.
He was turnt before it started
Only hard working 15 hours 7 days a week employee wud get it . Musk is hard working Genius and world doesn’t get him
Nope - equity to leaders are given as rsu and eventually they are compensated to match the market . So it was not about equity . He got a better job else where where he was in control

Google or Stay @ Walmart?
People quit their jobs all the time. He probably got a better offer somewhere else.
Anything is possible but I don’t think that is likely. One month into the role why leave? The role itself makes you give it more scrutiny
