I am expecting an offer from Tesla soon, it is for an engineering role on the infrastructure side. I have a Master’s Degree + 6 years of work ex. Just wanted to know what are various engineering levels and in which level i fall considering my education and work ex. Also, more importantly, i dont want to be low balled again and I would really appreciate if i can find out what is the average TC (base + bonus + rsu) for this job title. Thanks in advance.
What kind of infrastructure? What team?
Why does that matter? But its on SW engineering side.
P1 Associate Engineer P2 Engineer P3 Senior Engineer P4 Staff Engineer P5 Sr. Staff Engineer P6 Principal Engineer M1 Supervisor M2 Associate Manager M3 Manager M4 Sr. Manager M5 Director M6 Sr. Director P2=M1 and then they run parallel. You can make a sideways move from Sr. Engineer to Associate Manager for example. Or go from Sr. Engineer to Manager instead of Staff Engineer.
Thanks, very informative and well described. Appreciated. Based on my experience, do i fall in P3 or P4 bucket? Also what should be the total comp for both of these levels that I should aim for?
For senior engineer think 5+ years. But there are some people here with only 3 years of experience sitting with a senior title or 4 years of experience and associate manager. I know a staff engineer with 3 years.
