I think this is a reminder to everyone of us that corporation's treat employees as expendable commodities. Never get attached to a company personally, because the company would never do that.
Also apathy of managers is disgusting.
True - At Uber, I would stay in past 7pm even up to 4.25am doing work without Overtime. Double, Triple Hating without any increment. All because I believed in the mission. Uber, fired me along with 4 other high performers because we were smoking weed at 10pm at a lake in Hanoi during a company vacation.
Musk is a hype and Americans/rest of world falls for it again and again.
I think companies firing employees is not a new thing. Musk may be overhyped but some of his ideas/companies will yield in long run.
I like his vision and dream for going to mars. Tesla and SC - not so much. What's stopping Toyota/Honda/Government Motors from buying or licensing similar technology and mass producing cars?
He wants A+ performers
Good luck. He’ll run low on resources with that hiring ideology
Yup, if you piss off somebody who's best friends with your supervisor expect to get fired...
Relatively small percentage. Any good company will drop the bottom 5% every year. Arguably more important than rewarding the top 10%.

MS would never do this

They only have 200ish engineers
Now they only have -500 then. That's what I call innovation.
You're likely missing a 0...
If you suck at your job then you should get fired.
uhh, no one who sucks would make it into Tesla. it's simply management trying to go learn/startup mode
So you are proclaiming that everyone in Tesla doesn’t suck.
