Saw this interesting graphic today. Thought I’d share with my fellow blinders. https://www.marketwatch.com/discover?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.marketwatch.com%2Famp%2Fstory%2Fguid%2Fcb14e160-ac65-11e8-ae29-a24b9f7fd2dd&link=sfmw_tw#https://www.marketwatch.com/amp/story/guid/cb14e160-ac65-11e8-ae29-a24b9f7fd2dd?mod=dist_amp_social
I was surprised how high Wyoming’s average was.
Of course. Very few people there, sometimes a retirement herd. Fuck Connecticut and Calif. LA is pretty low, so that's good.
How do you still make an average annual income of $1.9M in retirement?
We are all top 10% at least.
1.69 is so low for ca. Does not reflect the bay.
Is this household income
Yes. The data was pulled from tax filings in 2015
Wow so 2 SWEs can easily hit this mark
I guess Top 10% would fall exponentially down and it would nullify the outliers and give us a better idea of top earnings.
Avg income for a 99th percentile is such an uninterpretable metric. What a terrible visualization too. Everyone will just see the purple number and then assume that is what it takes to be in the 1%.
Why should you limit it to your state? Also what I want to know more, who is the in the 1% of government assistance?
Wow! I feel poor. Atleast L67 to sneak into the 1% in WA.
Of course it's high. 99% of us will never crack the top 1%. 🤯
