Uh oh, Microsoft brought out the big bad Hitler argument. Now we know he means business.
A passing similarity to ideas supported by Hitler doesn't completely invalidate an argument. He was a vile man and did terrible things, but invoking his name to handily quell any opposing viewpoint is intellectually dishonest and, frankly, seems closer to what he might've done than anything.
It’s not a passing similarity. Hitler was a socialist because he believed capitalism was a Jewish conspiracy that destroyed Germany. Notice groups such as the National Socialists (aka The Nazis) and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (aka the USSR) don’t exist anymore.
Johnny does like pineapple George also doesn't like pineapple Johnny == George?
I think capitalism needs strong regulation to keep it in check as I believe it is a fundamentally anti-social system. I don't think it is a Jewish conspiracy or any of the other bullshit Hitler believed. Just because on one very limited point there are overlaps in our thinking doesn't mean I'm trying to be out here supporting Hitler.
Also, just because something distasteful uses a word doesn't automatically disqualify anything else that uses that same word. Both of the governments did have Socialist in the name and they were not good or successful, but it doesn't mean any socialist idea is now moot.
It's like Trump. Trump the president is a terrible, distasteful person. Trump the Twitch streamer seems pretty cool. I won't stop watching the streamer just because some other dude with the same name is a sex predator and an embarrassing politician.
