Tired of constant pressure, bad wlb, rat race, ever-growing real estate and taxes of bay area.

Current TC: 320K

Target offered me the job of a developer in Minnesota (150K TC), thinking of moving out.

YOE: 8

The quality of life is much higher (lower CoL) in Minnesota
(Midwest) than it is in the Bay Area.

You only get to live quality life 60% of the year. Other 40% is hibernation

I mean sure, if you like having nothing to do and being near nothing interesting within 10 hours drive...

There is a steep drop in technical understanding between MN and the FAANGs. I made a similar move of FAANG to MN Fortune 500. Absolutely regret it.

I back ur choice op. Personally I will also dash for it if it locates at Maui instead of Minnesota (I fear winter and long night tho)

Target and Target people are NOT worth that paycut. The politics, the culture, outside lifestyle if you’re not use to Minnesota nice is all frustrating. Don’t do it. Plus Target can do better on that offer. They like to lowball in that region. Target is definitely low balling and probably using Cali against you. Also your take home pay after the taxes ... ick. It’s going to feel like a worse paycut when you’re living there. I wouldn’t do it.

One family member relocated from Bay Area to MN. He is an EE grad, was working in biotech. He got a promotion and good salary and pay. He quickly became a director there. He is pretty happy. But your offer isn’t good enough, IMO. Plus winter is brutal there.

I don't know man! I probably won't go to Minnesota even for the same pay. I don't even want to go and live in Austin, TX. So .. that's just me.

Also, think about the kind of work you would do for Target. Why not look at Seattle, Oregon, Boston or LA?
