Thoughts on Apple SWE ICT 4 offer (Bay Area)?

Initial offer. Don't have competing offers ...yet. interviewing at G,F and others. Hopefully will get one or two.

Base: 200K
Stock:160K
Sign in bonus:60k

      That's not how it works. "I'll get a bigger bonus next year for sure so I'll just include my sign on in my TC". Same logic can be applied at any company.

      Ugh - it goes like this 2 sigma:

      1st year : 200 + 40 (stock) + 60 (sign on)
      After appraisal: assume another 120k - 160k refresher.
      2nd year: 200+ 40 (stock) + 40 (stock) + 20k ( bonus)

      Refreshers stack , so longer here more you get - till it plateaus around year 4.

      I understand what you are saying. But people don't include future refreshers in their TC. Too many things can happen in a year that change your expectations. Otherwise, why not include stock appreciation, expected base increase, etc.? We need to be consistent in our TC calculations or they lose their value.

      True - but with that logic , no guarantees of having a job either or living the next year. My assumptions are based on decent to good performance. If you suck you get fired or if you are great, you will earn more.

      I was also assuming it would go to around 300k. 70-120k stock refresh and around 25k bonus every year. Of course assuming I do well enough.

      If you do well, 70-120 / 25 are very reasonable expectations for ICT4 refresh / bonus grants.

      That said, we’ve seen recent Apple comp eval blind threads with $270k initial RSUs but lower base ($170k) and sign on.

      It’s June. You’ll be “too new to evaluate” and likely not get any refreshers for this year.

    Which org at Apple?

    Low RSU for 2018 though 160K was the norm 2 years ago. Very high base. ICT 4 salary band caps at $220k. Apple will give you similar yearly grants (160k) for exceeding expectations. It’ll take a few years to add up. How experienced or specialized are you in your field? Any leadership experience?

    How much is this better over your current comp?

      I don't really know which org.

      What's a reasonable RSU for 2018. Could I maybe make it 180k or 200k?
      I am very specialized in my field, pretty much digging deep into a very specific topic.

      I have managed contractors and interns occasionally, but I have always been IC.

      It is hard to compare against my current because of the location.

      Yes, u should be able to push RSUs to 200k+. Competing offers from fb/G are what u need

      How long is it reasonable for them to wait while I get those offers. I am interviewing with F this week. G is unsurprisingly slow.
      Dropbox and amazon are also on the table

      In another blind apple offer eval thread, I saw that the initial grants was $270k. That’s very encouraging but haven’t seen that in my org yet.

    I am ICT5 and my base is lower so the base look great for ICT4. You can probably try for more RSUs

    That seems about right for ICT4, if not high. I’d push for more RSU’s tho — at least equal to your base.

      I got them to raise it but it is still lower than FBs. I wonder, getting an offer high in the range means that I could get to ICT 5 sooner? Does it make any difference?

    Very good base. ICT4 bases in my org under hardware don't go over 200k and you start at 200k. Take a few years to build up your RSU.
