As anyone taken Chariot? Is it great or something uber/Lyft will eat up for breakfast? Early stage enough although ford owns it. Was thinking of joining from an equity standpoint. Thoughts?
Yeah, it will be eaten or at best relegated to only being a niche budget operator for 1-1.5 hour rides (more than that and you need a bathroom.)
Do. Not. Do. It
The app sucks
Ford will shut it down sooner or later. It's a bus service, but somehow billed as something revolutionary. Yawn.
Revolutionary like Lyft Shuttle.
How is it revolutionary? Please educate me!
It's a viable business model. They target companies to be the commuter shuttle solution and sell to small and midsized companies. They compete with those FB/Goog tech shuttles more than lyft or uber, and they target smaller companies than those giant companies. Automation is also on their docket through Ford. 14 person shuttles are way more efficient on the environment and traffic during commute hours. Chariot doesn't compete with uber/lyft on picking up drunks and party goers. The biggest problem for them is the price. Lyft shuttle/line/uber pool is only about 1 or 2 more dollars with maximum of 3 stops. Also, most passengers don't give a fuck about saving the environment or putting one less vehicle on the road; they'd rather get their own ride with maximum of two strangers along.
My company has it. Service is terrible!
How so?
Shuttles stop at wrong locations, drivers get turned around (or lost!), shuttles will leave without riders with reservations, etc
Nowhere near enough coverage. I'd like to replace caltrain as caltrain doesn't come frequently enough after 7 pm but there's no sf to South bay service
There used to be a bus based Caltrain alternative that left from beside the creamery. Does that still exist?
I haven't heard of this, but it seems useful! Do you know what it's called?
Eaten.
