Thoughts on pumps and dumps

What do people think about this trend that's been rampant since the early days of crypto. Are there any benefits to the toll it takes on the market as a whole? Will this type of trend die out on its own or will it need a more active solution potentially provided at the exchange system or coin level?

In my opinion, Pumping and dumping just hurts the general opportunity for crypto to stabilize and begin approaching viability as an accepted currency format.

You have pyramid scheme pump and dump groups thrashing the marker around and scaring back any chance for coins to open partnerships with retail or other business to be done.

Guess it's just a trend that will have to fade out slowly or be combatted actively before crypto can evolve into being readily useable for services and goods...

I agree with you that it's harmful and toxic, but if you look at the way Pump and Dump group chats are marketed, I think they will be here to stay for quite some time. They take advantage of people's desire to get rich quickly, and the results are real (for the first half of the pump and dumpers).

It’s inevitable that currency will be centralized. This isn’t Zimbabwe or Venezuela.

Easy way to avoid pump and dumps. Buy coins you understand and see value in. If it happens to get pumped. Ride the wave. Sell and buy back when it drops. I’ve made a ton of “free money” because I got lucky that I was holding a few coins that went 4-10x randomly.
