Tier 3 doesn't care: Privacy and security goes out the door when you leave

I'm appalled. I resigned from my Tier 3 employer last month and when I reached out to them to ask for W2 to file taxes, they emailed it to me!

With my SSN and all my personal information. Fuck you, now Google has crawled that information.

Fuck them! Previously they wouldn't even send my internal promotion memo unencrypted because it contains sensitive data and now they sent my SSN in an unencrypted email. Seriously wtf!!!

I guess privacy and security doesn't matter once you leave.

My experience with another previous ex employer is that they would still maintain a website for ex employees to access this data. What they did is unbelievable...

...You mean your PII has never been passed through via emails? That is pretty impressive actually.

Never. All finance data with SSN is self download after user authentication. In all my previous jobs. Unless you work for fly by night startup, I cant believe companies just email W2.

I have dealt with some companies for reimbursement asking for SSN. In those cases I call in and give it over the phone. But never have I encountered them sending it me without a secured means.

Well don't worry, Google may have already crawled that data long back. Just kidding. We don't crawl and store such information.

SSN is essentially public at this point. You've got bigger problems than someone emailing you that info
