Gonna start work at Amazon soon. I know teams are very individual and separated from each other, but if there are any general SDE tips for getting on your feet quickly, lemme know. Also if you can post how long it took you to onboard fully and feel comfortable developing that would be helpful too. TC: 172K; SDE 1 2.5 YOE
Congrats, i was previously Sr.SDE at Amazon (went from SDE1). Some tips, 1. Managers have lot of influence/control over employee growth in Amazon. So make sure you communicate well with your manager. Make an effort in 1:1 to align with him/her. 2. Do your homework but dont hesitate to ask for help. In general keeping making progress. If you are stuck make noise, get help. Amazon moves fast and it is expected you will too. 3. Get comfortable with all internal tooling asap(Brazil, Apollo, Monitor portal, Coral etc...) 4. Expected rampup time depends on team(manager). Refer to point 1 and be explicit. 5. Write tons of code soon. New joinees gets some leeway early so get as many CR comments to understand your team conventions. Then don't repeat mistakes. 6. Also actively try and understand what each person is generally doing in team. This will accustom you to general things happening in your team. 7. Lastly, get a mentor. Preferably SDE3+ with >3 years of Amazon experience. Best of luck.

Is it common to get SDE1 with 2.5 YOE?
*shrug* I haven't held a job for longer than a year and have only worked at smaller startups except Lyft up to now.
