I'm a pretty good looking guy that works as a software engineer. Sometimes i get the feeling people pass me off because of my good looks and dont take me seriously. Am I just imagining it because that is a fear I have and I'm making it into a self-fulfilling prophecy or is that a real stereotype that I will face. Am I in the wrong role?
Nope, you'll get promoted faster.
No it’s good for you
Humblebrag without evidence
Just your peers that get jealous and refuse to write good reviews.

I have considered that, but I have too much exp as a swe and I might need to start from the beginning again
Why do you say it's better or helps with promotions? Is this from seeing it actually happen to you or somebody? Please share
Studies show attractive people are more likely to be deemed trustworthy and are more likely to be promoted. Let me see if I can find the source. However, in tech I think that being good looking works against women. Attractive women have a harder time being viewed as intelligent
Change career. Go be a male stripper or gigolo. You will make more money than being a swe.
Strippers need good bod too. Too much work.
I'm sure he is blessed with a good bod, too.
Oh man I thought I'm the only one with this fear. Thank God I'm not alone.
Being good looking will only help your career, not hurt it.
