Too many rejections and lying recruiters

Works Applications / Eng tys

Hi everyone,
I've 1.5 yoe and I've applied at many places in the past month with referrals.

A lot of recruiters personally tell me that my profile is great, but still most of these places do not consider me even for phone interviews because they are looking for someone with more experience. I'm not taking about automated emails. Do the recruiters say this to everyone?

I would have believed that my profile is not good, but I am in the process of doing phone screens with Google and Twitter, so yay!
Amazon and Microsoft applications have been under review forever
Also, Grab said they want to interview me but then ghosted.

Current location is not US.
If anyone is willing to refer, I would appreciate it, but please dm as I'm out of DMs.
Tc:55 k

Thanks!

You're expensive to recruit between moving expenses and sponsorship, so you'd really really need to differentiate yourself, and that's tough to do with your YOE... 1.5 is not a lot, so you're competing against cheap fresh grad recruits and more experienced ones who are local.

Most roles require Japanese, which I don't speak. rejected without interview from other roles.

The role seemed good at the time of joining but now i feel I'm not learning much.
But You're right, that may not have been a good decision from a career point of view

What is your current location and what locations do you want to apply at?

      Current location is Tokyo
First preference is the US but most companies don't sponsor h1b
So next preference is London because it has a lot of tech jobs

But at this stage, I wouldn't mind working anywhere if it's good for my career

Youโ€™re an expensive recruit AND a potentially expensive hire. That is probably deterring some of them right of the bat. You should try more local places.

Move to foreign companies in Tokyo first, then ask for transfer later. Other than the ones you've mentioned, indeed, megagon, mercari?

How did u manage to secure an interview with Twitter? Do they have an office in japan?

      I've applied at a 100
Plus I believe that 3/100 is too less for getting phone screens?

Keep trying! Don't lose hope! I was unemployed, fired twice in a year through no fault of my own but due to shitty managers. I had 1.5 YOE as well so no system design experience. I wanted to quit the industry for the BS I went through.

Now I'm in FANG w TC 240K w 3 YOE. If I can do it, you can.

Lots: cure.fit, swiggy, dunzo, etc. are prominent startups. Google, Flipkart, etc too among the big ones.

You need to save and move to where you want to work, thereโ€™s too much talent and competition to hire anyone from outside
