I joined Careem as a new grad making 22k/month. I left a while back and I'm thinking of returning to Dubai. A Careem recruiter told me not to expect more than 28k/month which seems a bit low. What other tech companies that pay well are there in Dubai. How much can I expect with 2.5 yoe? If it makes any difference I work at FANG now.
Why would they pay that much? India is right there!
Only for oil companies; None in top tech, really snail pace coding. Dont opt it.
Best way to make super TC in Dubai is take a job in multinational companies in us/uk. Then, get relocated to Dubai regional Hq. as head of sth.
28k for 2.5 years experience is good money I say. Not sure you’ll get that much in Dubai otherwise Careem.
Might sound good at start, but at growth rate of 1-2% , it is not a good place to grow your career.
These are not so tech focused, just few pieces of code, to run a business on small scale. They could not be compared to low scale SF based startups, but mostly culture is to keep salary low and and all try to leverage the fact that you do have to pay zero taxes. But what I have heard from my friends is that situation is improving.
From my discussion with few recruiters in Dubai, it seems like they might be willing to pay 50k-60k AED. That’s about $200k annually tax-free. Assuming 40% tax rate in Bay Area. And 10% lower cost of living in Dubai. $200k in Dubai would be almost equivalent to $400k in Bay Area.
Are there any notable tech companies at all? Preferably something ML or autonomous driving related. Only low about Careem
Hi , can you refer me to careem ? looking for development opportunities. I can tell you my detail background
Ping me
Hi OP, where did you end up going?
Wait Careem is paying that much in Dubai? Can you break down the comp?
AED not USD. Also there is no tax. So AED 28k/month is around $7.6k/month untaxed. Cost of living is kinda high but much less than SF Bay Area. I don't think they give stock anymore since being acquired by Uber. There might be a small bonus.
