Anyone transitioned from early stage startups to a large org i.e. google, Facebook, apple, etc. How did you make an 'in'? After 10 years as founder/startup exec I'm looking for at least a few years of slightly increased stability and focus.
I've moved back and forth between early stage startups, SMBs, and large corporations. If you're looking to be confined in your role and coast, the corporate world is a good option. If you want more ownership/control/freedom, look into some SMBs. Pay will be less and networking opportunities are smaller though - there are trade-offs for everything
I did this. I landed in a really political PA and it's kinda gross. In general: - Politics - Glacial pace - Less lively
We must be in the same PA because that's been my exact experience too 🙄
Took startup to acquisition - remained through acquisition by $2.7B public corp. Still there and agree with ae521. Very very different being beholdened to shareholders rather than the customer. I'm on the lookout for a new gig with SMB.
Anyone a mom here? Tried working at a startup that's ok with you leaving by a certain time so you can pick up your kid from daycare, feed them, put them to bed? If you know of a startup that's supportive of that, holler. Otherwise only alternative is mid to large company unfortunately. Seniority doesn't matter
Corporate environment will suck your soul.
You mean IPO? Not sure you'll have much luck with the bottomfeeders on Blind.
