Travel outside US right after receiving a green card

Can you travel outside US for 3-4 months right after receiving your green card? I think there is a rule that you have to be in US for more than 50% of the time at any point in time in order to not cause any problems during naturalization. Is this true?

Right after green card taking off for 3-4 months, are you quitting your job? There is a rule that you have to stay with your current employer or a similar role for at least 180 days after your green card, after that you are free. I’ve traveled for 6 months outside the country and when I got back I breezed thru immigration with a Global Entry card scan, it was like as if I was reborn! 😂🙂

I thought the rule was not to change employer within 6 months of filing 485, not receiving green card.

“Absences of more than six months but less than one year may disrupt an applicant’s continuous residence unless the applicant can prove otherwise, (see legal basis, see policy manual)
Absences in excess of one year (PDF, 667 KB) or more may disrupt an applicant’s continuous residence, (see legal basis, see policy manual)”

This is the rule. Read and understand clearly and take it at face value. If you don’t understand or have doubts then contact an immigration attorney.

Don't travel. They will send a NOID and deport you.

Haha. Don't listen to this. You can travel of course. But just not more than 6 months.

After you have the physical green card, you are free to travel immediately on short trips. Exceedingly long absences from the country could require filing advance paperwork to get back in. Or you could apply for re-entry permits at a consulate abroad.

Nope. You can be travelling now. And not travel later.
