Is it safe to travel internationally if I have valid OPT but the visa on my passport has expired?

OPT EAD only indicates whether you can legally stay while you need the visa to reenter. Renewal may takes more time if you get administrative processing, but good employer wont fire you because of visa issues.

One thing to mention, just explain the risk to your manager and confirm with him its ok to work abroad for several weeks. And, DONT let hr know about it.

Yeah don't even try. Without an F1 renewal you won't be allowed into the US. The OPT is an EAD not a visa.

Don't do it. You won't be able to renter the country. The only way you can enter is apply for renewal of F1 Visa but you will have a hard time explaining why you don't intend to stay in the USA and continue working after the OPT expires via H1B as the F1 Visa is specifically meant for you to return back once your studies are done.

You can travel but since your visa is expired you won’t be able to enter the country for which your visa is expired.

  • Don’t even try. OPT EAD is not valid for re-entry. It’s clearly written on it.
