Anyone took more than 3-4 weeks break on h1b while changing jobs? Let's say I'll leave USA once I've h1b transfer confirmation. I want to go to South America for 4 weeks before I join next company.
I did the same thing an year ago. Was gone outside USA for 5 weeks and came back to USA 2 days before the new start date
Did you get your new visa stamp while you were gone?
No. I still have not stamped my new visa. Working in the new company on old visa. And I have outside USA 7 times since then. Never had an issue coming back
Yes. The immigration officer asked where I worked and I told them about the new job and how I am going to work on the receipt. After that I travelled once more on the receipt before getting my new h1b approved. I have been traveling since then with my i797 without any issues
