OPT starts in December 2018 and company will file for H1b in April 2019 and I want to go home for a week in May next year. Will it creat any issue? They will apply for H1b COE as far as I know.
Not recommended.
Not recommended given current uncertainty in immigration affairs. If you can wait a couple of months wait it out and fly after Oct 1st (if you get picked). Good luck!
What if its Consular processing? I have heard ppl are allowed to travel during this process.

Tipping culture is really getting out of control! Waiter gave me ‘a look’ because I tipped her 10% for ‘BAD service!’
People say not to travel but it's not a big deal. I traveled after h1b was filed and returned a month later and nothing happened. Still got it.
Were your h1b filed under change of status (as in from f1 to h1b) or change of Employer/consular?
Yes. With change of status and status changed fine on Oct 1
