Travis Kalanick was a jerk or he was made a scapegoat after Uber 2017 events?

Under Dara's leadership, Uber seems to have done well and earned the respect back for Uber in these 2-3 years. In 2017, Uber was fuck*d up, to say the least under Travis with sexual harassments, bro culture, his recorded fights with Uber drivers etc. Was Travis really a jerk and failed leader?

Travis was what company needed then, Dara is what company needs now. Swap their roles and Uber wouldn't be there by now.

No company needs a culture of sexual harassment to succeed.

Nah they just need to exploit overseas workers or sell peoples data to succeed.

He still is a jerk. So is thuan. That guy has a sadistic hard-on for abusing employees. Idk how Dara managed to neutralize him but that might be his greatest achievement yet that no one talks about

It's takes crazy people to think outside the box. And as soon as they do, we fuck them in the butt. Capitalism baby 👍

I didn't work at Uber, but I saw friends and friends of friends passionately defending Travis when he stepped down. Females included. I always wondered how he could be as bad as the press said.

Exactly. I read an answer in quora with Travis 's official email screenshot that he asked "what can I do to keep you at Uber" when a top level SWE was about to leave. I think it happened in 2015. At that stage there is no need for a CEO to talk to a normal swe. May be VP . But Travis went all the way down to hold him at Uber. The issue with current generation is "education without character ". Let's say you have a bio-tech startup and a top scientist creates a curing medicine for cancer, but he is a sexual predator. For a business all you need is profit. Now people also "always do the right thing". Ok, if you fire him there will be bunch of companies ready to take him and beat you in the market. The guy who was complained about sexual harassment was top guy from Google who worked on maps. Google can afford to lose brilliant jerks after these many years. But not a startup like Uber. The point, education without character and business without morals is biggest issue.

The guy was an ahole to individual contributor employees. Really hated him. He is rich and I am not. So I'm the loser but I didnt like him.

Uber iTriggerU Jun 30, 2019

Fuck everyone who hates tk. Everyone at Uber owes him everything they have

Listen to interviews with him. He’s a no BS type of guy and will tell it out how it is. This doesn’t really do well in the politically correct climate of 2019. I think he failed to consider a lot things while focusing on growth at all costs, but to some extent that’s inevitable.

Seems like it took someone like Travis to break up the city sanctioned monopolies that cab companies had. If it weren’t for him, we’d still be reciting our addresses on a voice call for each ride.
