Trump seems to think that a President is a CEO and is attempting to govern by issuing executive orders and firing people who don't follow them. For example he says that immigration is a key issue for him and he has issued many immigration related orders and shaken up the management at DHS. That is what a CEO would do, but what makes governing different from a CEO job is legislation. The government doesn't only operate within the law, the government can change the law. How is it that this far into his Presidency Trump has still not moved a single piece of legislation relating to immigration? He keeps COMPLAINING about the law but doesn't seem to understand it's within his remit to change it. Especially in the first two years when the GOP controlled both houses of Congress it would have been relatively easy for Trump to use the Presidency to propose changes and lobby Congress to pass them. Yet he didn't even try. He seems to be doing everything he can to work around the law and even fires people when they do not help him get around the law, but it has apparently not dawned on him that he can actually work with Congress to change the law. Even now with the Democrats in the house he could bargain for changes he wants in exchange for changes they want. He just doesn't seem to know that's his job.
His job is to own the libs
So he doesn't actually want to get anything done?
Trumps fans would eat shit if they knew a liberal had to smell it. But yeah keep owning them libs.
TLDR version for deplorables please..
MAGA country!! Finally someone coming in and draining the swamp as promised 👍
It’s almost as if years of Obama issuing a record number of executive orders set a bad precedent
At least Obama didn’t destroy the economy
You missed the point. Trump keeps trying to do things with executive orders the he CAN'T do, and then gets frustrated, and rages about it. But the exact same thing would be relatively easy to do with a bill. For example, he is furious that people can cross the border illegally and then request asylum and is doing all kinds of illegal things to deter it. He is also furious that they can stay in the US while waiting for the case to be heard. But it would be pretty easy to pass a bill that just says you can't apply for asylum after crossing illegally and giving CBP discretion to make them wait in Mexico. He's running into legal problems because he's trying to do this with an executive order. I don't even think he's wrong to want to do this, but he doesn't seem to understand how to do it and is as a result failing to do it.
Oh he did
Andy Puzder claims that Trump easily wins over Obama when you look at the numbers: For eight years under President Obama, the growing burden of government suppressed the economic recovery that should have followed the recession of 2008-09. Mr. Obama nonetheless has claimed responsibility for today’s boom, asking Americans in September to “remember when this recovery started.” Yet it wasn’t until President Trump took office that the economy surged. …The result is a rising tide that is lifting boats across every class and region of the country. …Today unemployment rests at 3.7%, near a 50-year low. Since the government began reporting the data, unemployment has never been as low as it is today for African-Americans, Latinos, Asians and people with only a high-school education.
Wow this is insane. Go look at a graph (any graph - job count, unemployment, stock market, house prices, etc) on the economy. Nice upswing 2009-2018. Now most of those are sputtering and having issues. To understand an individuals impact, you look at how the trends change under them. 2 years in office and you can start to see the impact someone has.
Stop complaining and do your due diligence as a citizen. There is a reason behind everything
G GDP growth staggered along at 1.5% in Mr. Obama’s final six full quarters in office. …growth doubled to 3% during Mr. Trump’s first six full quarters. …the increase in job openings over Mr. Trump’s first 21 months has averaged an impressive 75,000 a month. Over Mr. Obama’s last 21 months in office, the number of job openings increased an average of 900 a month. …During Mr. Obama’s last 21 months, the number of employed Americans increased an average of 157,000 a month. Under Mr. Trump, the increase has accelerated to 214,000 a month, a 36% improvement. …In Mr. Obama’s final 21 months, weekly earnings rose an average of $1.31 a month. Under Mr. Trump, weekly earnings have increased an average of $1.84 cents a month: a 40% improvement that’s come mostly since tax reform took effect in January. Over that period, weekly earnings have grown an average of $2.31 a month, a 76% increase over Mr. Obama’s last 21 months. …The unemployment rate declined 13% during Mr. Obama’s last 21 months, but from there it has dropped another 23% during Mr. Trump’s tenure.
There was no inflection on the rate of change. An objective assessment is that the economy was picking up speed under Obama and continued to do so through Trump's first year. Which makes sense because Trump's first year was under Obama's last budget, economically nothing changed. Trump's second year was bumpier with some stock market hiccups, and trade took a beating, effect of the trade war, but no major calamity yet. There's not much objective basis for saying much has changed, aside fun the trade war, which likely doesn't serve the agenda of either party.
I don’t think there is anymore a point in trying to have a conversation in this country. It is rolling downhill to a fully authoritarian police state. The dystopia is becoming reality This is going to end badly. Consider yourself lucky if you hold several passports. It’s gonna be very handy.
Did that at least make your TDS feel better? Also, don’t pretend the dems want to bargain on anything. Dems just want to change the rules they don’t like.
Everyone wants to change rules they don't like, except it seems, Trump. He complains about the laws a lot but never does anything about it.
Only the dems want to increase the number of Supreme Court justices, abolish the electoral college. Trump does plenty about it.
