The fact that people don’t see “tariffs are a beautiful thing” as the ultimate negotiation stance is baffling to me.

Hence, IP theft is a bigger problem than homelessness.

Both are problems. The quorum is found on which issue Americans find most important. And the election results will give us a good indicator there.

Everything is translatable into monetary terms. Half a trillion in annual expense is a much bigger problem than .2% of the population being homeless.

What amount of money in your mind is each homeless person worth? You are saying they are worth more than $1,000,000 annually.

You miss the point. We could solve the homeless problem more or less permanently with a little focus. It's difficult to put a monetary value on human suffering. Solving the Chinese IP problem is more difficult, probably impossible, and would only benefit a small sliver of society that is mostly already rich. Solving the homeless problem would benefit huge swaths of society.

How did IP theft, illegal immigrants piling up at the border have to do with homelessness. In importance scale, it is, 10000 vs 1000 vs 0.1??

homelessness is more important than then other 2 combined

Well keep your eye on the consumer price index and inflation. So far nothing to worry about on the consumer front. Kind of makes sense that the old models of trade and tariffs don’t account for how interconnected our global supply chains are. Apparently substitution Across huge variety of imports is much more of a thing now versus 100 years ago So the tariff country ends up losing market share in the consumer never pays the higher price

This sounds like a lot of bullshit to fit your narrative that tariffs are good. Do you have a source?

The country is booming! Tariffs are a simple tool US can exploit to convince other countries to deliver on their promises. In the interest of the US. The world is used to not following on promises made to the US. Not anymore. MAGA. 🇺🇸

Except it is not as mandatory (only applies if you are buying something that was imported)

Yep - it’s selectively applied to the country who has been stealing our IP for 20 years.

It doesn't just apply to imports. Domestic manufacturers will also raise prices to increase margins while still being able to charge less than the import because of the tariff.

It affects all consumers of the product that is being taxed.

Oh, well if domestic increase the price and people still buy it, that's unfortunately how economics work.

Still better than China profiting off our IP
