This is such a dishonest headline lol. Workers who show up get ADDITIONAL pay, those who don’t still get their regular pay. Why so desperate to lie?

No scan, no pay. Don’t show up, and you lose OT pay later in the week.

Show up or use PTO. If you do show up, don’t express your own views, please wear bright clothing so that Trump can use you as free publicity to show how much workers love him.

Also... no lunch and you can’t leave or bring food... and you will be standing the whole time behind Trump so, again, Trump can make it look like he has support of workers.

  • Where are all the Trump supporters? This thread is remarkably quiet.

There are no Trump supporters here. There’s only Atinlay.

    • Starting to strongly suspect that most right wing/pro-Trump posts here are just social media marketers working for Republican PACs.

I mean, look at all of Oomnj’s posts during the workweek. Surely it couldn’t have been that slow of a week at Twitter...

Idk man as long as it's not the state mandating it. Fuck unions; if you can't stand on your own two feet, don't expect to be treated as a respectable individual.

Yeah, your bosses stand on their two feet... on top of teams of lawyers, hr personnel and a whole organization.

Now, why not go win a football game - just yourself... without other players on your team doing all that commie stuff like organizing and having strategy.

Except that working at a company isn't the same as playing a football game. You aren't competing against the company. That just ain't right.

Companies and employees never have conflicting interests? When they do, do your bosses stand on their own two feet or bring in the whole weight of the organization?

Primary source seems to indicate it's a typical VIP speak & greet for the company, which they had plenty of times before with other VIPs and celebrities. It’s a political rally, plain and simple.

      OP
Other VIPs were old sports stars - not a sitting President running for re-election who uses people in work uniforms as props to claim that workers love him. He also used the speech to bash unions.

Imagine how blind conservatives would have reacted if Google made employees go to an Obama speech during his re-election run and told their employees that they had to be supportive and not shout or heckle.

I like to think I would protest or heckle, but I chose “just not go to work,” because the reality is I’m a wage slave just like those guys. I could probably afford to lose a day’s pay, but not my job.

Sounds reasonable. I didn’t hear about any protests, so seems like most people did the same.

Seems like the type of thing a whole lot of people would need to agree to do in order for it to work. Would have been cool if they organized something like that - but probably not enough time to prep and pull it together.

It’s not like they were forced to attend a 12-hour long campaign rally as others have suggested. It was a training event, for which they were paid overtime (i.e. more than they would have otherwise received for working that day). Trump was a guest speaker. They even had the option to take a free day off and still receive regular pay (though no overtime). Nothing newsworthy here.

Was probably a long day for those workers. There was already a massive, overflowing, crowd and traffic jams up to 10 miles from the event.
