Trumps pathetic attempts to deal with China or immigration can only be compared to Wille Coyote contraptions.

He seems to harm his own agenda the most.
Can anyone demonstrate that his actions are working to achieve the goals he set for himself?

Demonstrate? Can we look at the current economic climate and say “something is working”?

Life is pretty good right now.

Previous administrations did it is false comparison and not an excuse even if it would be. It's actually irrelevant. He either can do it or not. He could not because he failed to build legally sound proposals, which will satisfy the Congress. It's as simple as that.

The idea that harming children will fix the border is wrong and proven not to work. It's utterly immoral as well. No, Obama did not do it. It's proven false. The policies are very different.

“The visa processing process is much more convoluted and difficult to navigate. Instead of doing the job people spend time trying to figure out how to navigate it.”

That has always been the case nothing has changed. I am on H1B. Can you please be specific as to what new law/rule that trump has introduced that has made legal immigration more of clusterfuck. Thanks

No it's not always been the case. The are new rules, which prevent people from fixing paperwork mistakes. The premium processing was disrupted. There is more other problems.

    • Microsoft PhitteMooh
The premium process was disrupted in previous administrations as well when the backlog grows. Nothing new. If it was nefarious it wouldn’t have been reinstated

I am still waiting on the “new rules” you keep mentioning I would genuinely like to know.

      OP
I just gave you the new rules. Processing is a mess. What you are doing is whataboutism. Not every mess is equally messy. Trump was supposed to fix immigration especially with full support of the Congress for 2 years. Instead it's a mess, which is messier that it was before.

    • Microsoft PhitteMooh
I went through this whole thread and was not able to find the new rules you keep mentioning. I am not doing a whataboutism, I am stating legal immigration has always been a shit show. But you claimed under Trump it has gone worse.

      How?
What rule has made it worse and convoluted. Some source would be nice. I recently switched jobs and had no issue, so I am genuinely interested.

It’s a simple job for you. Just state the steps that have been introduced that make legal immigration more complex.

But if you can’t I would imagine you just regurgitated something from your echo chamber without verification

Again a simple answer of steps or source would be great.

      Thanks

Again, paperwork processing penalize even tiny mistakes. People are getting denied on even tiny mistakes and unable to fix these. We had people turned around on the border.
Disruption in premium processing. I'm referring to paperwork processing rules.
"I work for Microsoft and my processing was fine" is not data.
Tourist and family visas are much harder to get. Rejections for no reason.
It was mess and it's got much worse.

China has robbed US since 2001. And Trump is the only president trying to do something about it. China has blocked most US tech and finance companies from entering their market by policies. That's not what's being promised when China joined WTO.

LoL. That's all libtards can get. They can't argue on plain cold facts. It has to be in their interpret context. Not unlike CNN

The trade deficit with China is down and it seems that their stock market is hurting more than America's.

Notice how none of the Dems are campaigning with a better China strategy. Belt and road, South China Sea buildup, IP theft, and internet filtering is going to guarantee a confrontation and there's no "good" solution that leaves everything unscathed.
    May 145
    • Uber domin8
      OP
Dems don't make empty promises, which make no sense to anyone above 3rd grade.
IP theft is the stupid excuse big companies use, who fail to execute. Their stock market reference is ridiculous because Americans don't benefit from their stock market problems.

      😂

And I didn't say promise, I said strategy. The best argument against something is a better alternative and nobody has risen to the challenge.

Everything else you said sound like deflection or apologisem. Are you Chinese or paid by them?

Are you Russian paid by Putin? Who else supports Trump? Taking real strategy to an average American voter make zero sense. It will go way above their heads. Plus they already brainwashed with the nonsense. You are the example.

I don’t think anyone can defend it...the only way this works is if China blinks first in this high stakes game of chicken and Trump generally is willing to let things get to the brink and beyond before blinking. I wouldn’t be surprised though if Beijing is banking on his tendency to blink first after getting almost to the point of no return like with the Government shutdown finally starting to impact the FAA.

I’m not a trump fan but let’s see what happens with China. China is a bad economic player and I’m glad their feet are being held to the fire. I’m just worried that trump will negotiate a really shitty deal, say it’s an awesome deal, and his base loves him while getting screwed over.
    May 131
    • Toptal KnEh28
Fully agreed. I’m really hoping the negotiations will at least lead to strong intellectual property rights within China.

But knowing trump and his worshippers - the worst possible outcome will still be praised.

Unfortunately, I don’t think Trump has a firm understanding of trade...nor global supply chain and different country’s core competencies...his own staff and aides have reportedly called him a moron, with the understanding of a “fifth or sixth grader”.

Immigration is something entirely different. He and his staff are taking a cynical route there. The goal is not really to end illegal immigration - the GOP has a large donor class that benefits directly from exploiting illegal immigrant labor. IMO the goal is to punish illegal immigrants to appease the base but also get them in private detention centers which is lucrative, especially as we go through Criminal Justice reform. John Kelly is now on the board of one of them. Based on that, I’d say he’s doing well. The % of illegal immigrant workers has been declining a little bit. In 2016 it was 4.8%. Couldn’t find 2017 or 2018 numbers yet.

Not only does he not understand he’s surrounded himself with Yes men after all the “decent” people resigned. He’s so stubborn that he doesn’t even listen to advisors. I’ll say one thing for GW he knew his shortcomings and hired a great cabinet.

There's never a good time. US economy is strong. Unemployment rate is lowest in 50 years, inflation is also low. Salary is actually increasing.
