Once USA starts a financial war because china is manipulating their currency, the real game starts. Mark my words, china will start to crumble as soon as us starts a financial war
Why's that?
It's hard to see how this is supposed to be a net positive for the average US citizen. Beyond some sort of patriot-boner ego-fantasy this really will not improve anyone's life. All the factory and manufacturing jobs will stay overseas. There's just no way low-skilled US labor as a whole can compete at scale with Asia, because they cost more and are far less efficient. On the other hand the US wants to stay in a strategically dominant position for decades to come. And that would be at least a valid reason for escalating aggression until it exacts concessions, be it substantive or superficial ones. But that's literally none of our concern, this status quo won't change enough in our lifetimes to matter. Unless something catastrophic happens like a full out war (which if you are advocating for please enlist, and get your kids to as well), this is all just one massive ego contest, paid for by the public.
We are a war driven economy though, so it’s going to be tough to see how this plays out where our military has nowhere to go.
One gets the feeling Iran is most likely, hard to fight a war with nuclear-capable superpowers
Op, you dumb? The jobs will just shift to other places. And, China does have a market size of 1.3 billion people. Guess, where does Hollywood makes most money? NBA's biggest foreign market? How many GM cars sold in China? How many Iphones sold in China? Dont be dumb. Read more.
1.3 billion market where 1billion are peasants
So you're saying 300M have purchasing power? While the total US population is 325M... I wonder where there's more more to be made then 🤔
Bring it on Chiiiiina!
Look at that fucking idiot.
Apart from all the trump hate, I guess it's high time China is shown door and US needs to figure out better alternatives to manage their needs. There was is and will never be a day where China will do something for other countries without a sinister plot behind.
We didn't contract with China as a favor. Market forces found them to be the cheapest producer. We helped enable their economies of scale. But we can't just pull the rug out now. Doing so would mean: devastating inflation across the board, reduced profits, bankruptcies and layoffs at US companies; and China will anyways sell their goods to the rest of the world (perhaps at an even lower price to keep volume up). This has all kinds of consequences. It puts US companies and manufacturers at a disadvantage over foreign companies (i.e. US manufacturing will have a higher cost of parts), so these companies will relocate into a more sane business environment (as Harley Davidson is doing). Some of those Chinese goods will get rebadged under other countries and anyways flow to American buyers, albeit with a cut for the middleman. For certain products where China has a near Monopoly, we will just be forced to pay a lot more (including medical devices, stuff with rare earth metals, and probably most computers and phones, and many other things not fully understood). China will feel a lot of pain on their side (and there are risks to their corporate debt problem), but US will feel a lot of pain too. Now, it's really a game of chicken - who will blink first in these negotiations. Hopefully the real negotiations can happen soon and US can rectify some of the protectionist and unfair practices that China has been following for many years. But two strongmen who refuse to give in can lead to long term issues.
Really? I dont see all those turmoil amongst these time when usa but a huge tarrif on china. Seems like we are doing fine
Just out of curiosity, how do we win if both China the US suffer?
The game lasts twelve rounds if both boxers are good ... and haven't come to their senses yet.
I am a little bit confused aout your mindset as a Chinese. When I was a middle school student in 2007, China was said to crumble by CNN, BBC or whatever media. Now it has become 2018 and I am here with Uncle Jeff paying me $$, but China is still lingering. Can I say you guys are brainwahsed as you keep telling some bs that never happens?
The US herself is about to get hit by financial war. Housing and stock market will be decimated.
US heavily depends on China, a lot of this China hate has more to do how their country and people are prospering while America is stagnant.
How does us depend on china?
Most of our manufacturing is there, China needs the US equally as we need them. If China falls, we’re going to be scrambling because of how we need to figure out decent quality manufacturing at a high scale. China actually is still miles away from the US, they’ve been getting a lot of hate because Chinese culture can be flauntish and downright rude. If the US fell, China would be equally as screwed, we are their biggest customer.
