Applied to 4 positions at MS. Nothing over a month. 3.5 YOE. Java middleware. Had other companies get back to me; Google, Amazon. Any recommendations to get my foot in the door? Direct message recruiters, find a referral, or simply wait? Also, recommended orgs to apply to?
I have had most success directly contacting recruiters on linked in. Sometimes it takes several recruiters to finally get one that will contact you. So just be persistent.
What this Cisco person said. I currently accepted an offer from Microsoft and it all started with me reaching out to a recruiter on LinkedIn.
Thanks. I’ll give it a try.
Get your resume straightened out as well
I got in via a referral. I personally referred others and those who were hired saw quickest response after I directly contacted the hiring manager.
White Male?
Brown male.
Then you should be concerned with the male part.
Brown as in minority or middle east/asian?
If minority look for a diversity recruiter then.
Lol. Do people actually have “diversity recruiter” as a title in LinkedIn?
Yes
Get an internal referral
I can refer you if your resume looks good. DM me. :)

You are applying for interesting roles. competetion is high internally and externally. apply for a normal role that is ok for you and very close to your resume, after you join Microsoft try to move internally to the team or work you like.
Makes sense. I’ll go through the job posts for the more normal roles.
