Trying to get in at Epic

Trying to move to Madison for family reasons. Applied for a project manager role at Epic through a referral, but was rejected without a phone screen. Have a PM background, MBA from a top 10 school, and an engineering degree from a rigorous program. But my undergrad GPA was a 2.9, so I think that's why I was rejected even though that was over a decade ago. Any tips for getting my foot in the door past the GPA gatekeepers? Edit: GPA is required on the application, and I completely agree this is crappy practice. But there aren't a lot of other options in the area that I've found yet.

Don’t list the GPA? Who even cares about that after 1 YOE let alone 10 YOE?

It's required on their application

Yeah, I've heard mixed things for sure. You either buy into the cult or not

You sound overqualified for the role. If you aren’t local, I wouldn’t expect a follow up.

Very possible

Nearly all hires other than for extremely specialized roles (physician, PR) are recent college grads. Even if you had a 4.0, I doubt you'd get a call back. They're big on molding you into an epic-droid and doing things our way (hence why all the PMs are like under 30)

Even with direct referrals from people who work there?

Probably? Won't discourage you from trying again but I think honestly you're overqualified and even if they offered you a position the TC would be lower than you probably would hope for given your quals. It's a flat hierarchy here, take what you will. The PM position here is more designed to churn and burn new grads, I doubt this is what you're looking for. Lots of travel too. Stalk ex epic people and see where they work. Unfortunately outside of epic, jobs here are so-so. You're in biotech right? Check out Exact Sciences or Thermo Fisher

I am amazed that you would not get a call, even after all you've said. I've seen them try and court ECE majors with equivalent GPAs try and get in contact with a recruiter and also check out Raven and zendesk
