Serious question: What are the major bets Twitter is taking to rekindle their user base? Do they have a valid shot in the world of FB, Instagram, Snapchat and Messenger?
I don't see the user base is a problem. They still have a lot of daily active users, even Mr. President is their loyal user. It is just how they are going to monetize as much as they are supposed.
Trump is all they have left.
Twitter usage is way less than other apps. someone else may buy it as its not looking prospective
however the engineers seem to be enjoying work. apparently, my friend is being offered a lot of rewards for solving bugs.
Rewards as in money?
no, apparently they have some internal rewards system which are essentially badges for getting stuff done.
Periscope is still there. I heard they are also working on some VR play. Let's see what will happen in the next year.
I see a lot of people in my field tweeting useful research things, neat blog posts. memes happen too. Twitter is an okay source of entertainment for me, but that doesn't pay bills. I don't think they'll ever cap the casual market, and even if they did so what. they've got plenty of users and still aren't profitable. I can't think of anything that I'd want to purchase from Twitter, and ads would make it obnoxious. soooo yeah kinda in a bad place there. they could go the route of twitch/discord and allow custom emotes or special privs for paying users, like animated avatars and other weird stuff. hell even offering a way to pick up old long dead Twitter handles could be profitable. I only got my favored handle but tweeting @ the person who had my handle, and waiting a year or two when they were like "oh, hey, here you go". nice guy.
Twitter is dead guys. They killed vine, the last hope that they had of recapturing the young. Its mostly a news and spam platform now for businesses and extroverts.
What's twitter? And why are the shares more than AMD? Makes no sense. Garbage.
Twitter is dead. Lacks user scale to make a difference. Will be much similar to how Yahoo ended up. A boring ass telco will buy them. Why talented engineers work there is beyond me

No. Personally I see early signs of Yahoo. The world of social has matured a lot since Facebook started monetizing. Twitter will remain in niche market until eventually being bought out.
