UBER just cancelled my phone interview
Some random HR called told me that the HR I was in contact is out and the position is on hold. is this due to the recent losses... not a good sign if they are not hiring engineers ... or is this a common practice with Uber

Currently Uber has freeze hiring of Engineering according to Yahoo Finance. This may be an impact of recent losses of $5.4B. Not a good sign for now.
