Uber 401k matching
Why does Uber not match 401k contributions? Is the company doing some progress towards 401k matching?
Most companies aren't as generous matchers at Google. You're really only looking at 3k or so on matching. It's nice to have but not really anything worth considering in the large scheme of TC.
Since we are getting technical it’s tax deferred - get taxed when you withdraw to use it
What pre ipo unicorns match? I don’t know any
401K match is important and can be a huge part of your comp. It can be 6% and also can include profit sharing to even go closer to 9%. If your base-comp + bonus is 200k, 401k contributions from your employer could be 6% or $12k with profit sharing that could go to $18k. Seems strange to pretend like that 12k-18k doesn't matter. Especially when these companies are also pumping RSUs on top of that too.
Usually most companies that match are already public or are reasonably profitable/have a good cash flow. Uber has only some of the latter with quite a big Debt sheet.
Don't other unicorn startups give this benefit?
