Uber Offer GM L6

Uber will be extending an offer in the next 1-2 days.

They mentioned that they will be sending a form today to fill in with compensation information in order to build my offer.

Any good tips on the negotiation process would be appreciated.

The offer will be for a General Manager L6 Ops role.

Thank you

Bonus is accurate to current state and if you crush it $70k cash for a GM role is really solid. RSUs you're getting a little bent but I look at that as $350k anyway. If we are crushing $100 post IPO I'll be surprised. I've work many hats at this company and can tell you that's a good offer for the role and responsibilities.

Thanks for the feedback. Certainly not as high as the SDE offers I have seen on blind but that is no different than Amazon (tech makes a shit more than non-tech). Quick question, how does the cash and refresher bonuses work (recruiter can’t or does not want to explain)? Is the the minimum? Not that I plan to suck at the new role but it would be helpful to know what it would take to get a figure lower than that and how much lower it would be. Just trying to understand the mechanics of the bonus structure. Thoughts?

In short: you suck (and your probably getting fired anyway) 0-1x. You do what's expected of you, 1x. You do more than that, crush targets, build something big that scales, you're making 70k

All I needed to know. This is helpful Pxxxxface. I appreciate it. I am going to push a little harder on RSUs to not have any regrets, and relocation and hope to close out soon. Quality of life is something priceless and I guarantee you in Latam that will be 100x better than in Seattle.

What city. $150k for any LatAM city is really high

Let’s just say it is one of the most expensive ones. Not Mexico or Brazil. What do you think of RSUs and bonuses?

I am very happy with the salary for sure as my cost of living is going to go down 60% vs Seattle

Stay at Amazon man. Ops role at Uber ain’t worth it. I am surprised to see $150K in USD in latam tbh.

I can always come back. Amazon is a bit boring for me right now (Retail). They need to get their shit together first. I think Uber Latam is exciting (at least for me). Got a couple of friends working there and they say it is fun vs other Uber regions

Yes, the moment you transfer to a new country the comp is adjusted per the wage market of that country.

Thanks, Lalu. I appreciate the input. Offer has not come yet. What would you say is reasonable for an L6 in Latam across all compensation buckets. What’s more negotiable?

    • Uber Lalu
No idea. GM is a non tech ops role so comp is lower than the roles in the Tech ladder. Latam market is not as highly competitive as NA.

I thought it was no longer legal for companies in SF to request compensation history.

But the RSU is only 3.5k RSUs. They say it is the cap for this L6 Ops role. Salary is 150k plus $35k (annual cash bonus) and $60k in annual RSU refresher. These last two can go up to 2X. Thoughts?

You won’t get anything close to $320K for a latam role.

Poopyface, I was able to get an additional 15k in salary a year and 1.5k more RSUs (more than double than original offer in the end). Just accepted! Overall very happy with my offer. Quality of life will be much better and the job will be a blast I am sure!
